Business Details

HipStore is a vintage and sustainable clothing store. This ready made e commerce business

HipStore is a vintage and sustainable clothing store. This ready-made and recession proof e-commerce business has sold thousands of items. It is for sale at a very fair price.

$9,750 without Inventory or any physical items (this is ideal if you wish to use this business as a platform and huge head start to add your own products, dropship print on demand items, source your own stock locally or if you wish to sell a slightly different type of product that would appeal to the same audience)

$14,950 with inventory (I have lowered the price to reflect that stock levels are getting lower as lots of orders are still coming in even though I am not adding additional products as I have been busy with another project)

Looking to sell as soon as possible as I am so busy with other work. This is why I am selling under value. This will also enable the new owner to capitalize on this upcoming busy season. This business continues to make sales almost every day despite the fact I have not added products or done any work on this business for nine months.

What does your business do?

With people shopping more consciously and the rise of the slow fashion movement, sustainable fashion products are in high demand. HipStore offers affordable sustainable clothing.

How does your business make money?

This business is just over one year old and has already made over 1,500 organic sales with hundreds of five Star reviews and thousands of followers which offers invaluable social proof for potential customers. With the first year in any business being the most difficult, this is a massive head start. You can see almost everything we have sold at the bottom of our Depop shop.

We sell on six platforms. We don't like to put all our eggs in one basket. This way, if sales are slow on one marketplace they will likely pick up on another. These platforms are Depop, Etsy, eBay, Grailed, Facebook Marketplace and of course our own websitehipstore.cousing Shopify. We use a software($30/m) that allows me to easily cross-post listings across all platforms. When an item is sold, I just mark it as sold and it will automatically delist on all platforms. This software is super easy to use and also allows you to list on Poshmark, Macari and Tradesy if desired. I have not listed on these particular marketplaces as they are primarily for the US market. I do sell to the US but most of my customers are in Europe at the moment. Having said that, due to the nature of this business most new customers will be local to you, no matter where you are located. Depop is now where the majority of organic sales are coming from at the moment. As Depop is a really easy to use and its growing fast, we list here and then I can easy cross post to all/any of the other platforms using our Depop listings but this can be done from any platform and you can also list directly on the software from your computer to all platforms. There are very little expenses for this business, just costs that come when sales are made.

The huge benefit of selling on these marketplaces is that customers are guaranteed which means you don't need to spend a fortune driving potential customers to a website that they have never heard of. People are searching these marketplaces with the intention to buy. However, there is huge opportunity if someone is willing to put time or knowledge into ads. Google Shopping Ads, Facebook and Instagram Ads, along with TikTok ads are all integrated with the website but I have not ran many campaigns yet.

There is also the potential to retarget all the previous customers via email marketing campaigns. I have integrated Klayvio to the website to help collect email addresses but I have done very little retargeting. The few emails I have sent out did result in some additional sales. Lots of our customers return without any retargeting so it is a no brainer to advertise to people who have already purchased from you.

For this business, the more products you add the more you sell. This is because each product is different and unique, customers can't wait too long to order as there is mostly only one of each item. This offers scarcity which in business offers a huge advantage in pushing an order through.

For the Inventory, EU and UK Shipping is included but anywhere else will be extra. This may be quite expensive due to the amount of stock but I am purposely letting stock run a little low to make shipping to the buyer easier. Depending on where you are located I will be able to help with best suppliers I have found and websites to use, I will have some names and tips regardless of where you are located (I have found the best suppliers in Uk, Ireland and Europe but most of the best stock actually comes from the US but I haven't worked with these suppliers). I also have details for unlimited reworked items. Ordering vintage, reworked and dead stock can be done a few ways like, by the bale, handpicking or picking individual items from an international seller at a much low price. Ordering bales is the easiest and good suppliers have every good stock, if you order Grade A you are safe. At the moment I prefer handpicking, this way you know exactly the items you are buying. Handpicking is also fun and makes for great social media content. Having so many different items also makes it easy to have content for social media if you are focusing on this. As preloved clothing is becoming a massive industry, there are more wholesalers opening all the time. Some experts believe slow fashion will outgrow fast fashion this decade. This business also enables you to sell various brands that would normally be impossible without huge investment. Another advantage is the large profit margins.

The name of the business HipStore, of course rhymes with hipster which people think is really cool. When naming the business a focus was to not restrict the business to vintage clothing incase we decided to start selling new items in the future. We have nearly made it to the top of Google search which helps with some additional traffic.

What is included?

- Shopify Website (https://hipstore.co)

- Domain

- Depop account (http://depop.com/hip_Store)

- Etsy account (https://www.etsy.com/shop/hipstoreco/ -This shop has so many sales as I previously sold wallets, phone cases and other fashion accessories on Etsy before I decided to niche down on clothing)

- Grailed account (https://www.grailed.com/HipStore)

- eBay account (https://www.ebay.com/usr/hip-store)

- Cross Listing software account which basically allows to list to all the above marketplaces in one spot.

- ASOS Marketplace account

- Inventory. About 300 items. These are stored in 50 numbered plastic boxes.

- Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/hipstore.co/). Please note: I have never purchased followers, reviews, email addresses etc. on any page or account.

- Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/www.hipstore.co/)

- TikTok (https://tiktok.com/@hipstore.co)

- Email address((available on request)) and office 365 account(outlook)

- Email List of previous customers (2,000 )

- €500 Google Ads voucher

- Studio Lighting set. Photos can be taken on any background. I just use an App that will make all backgrounds the same so editing photos is super quick and easy. This app has been a lifesaver really.

- Phone stand. This is if you wish to take model photos. It means you can do it on your own or if you hire someone, they can do it on their own. I use my phone for photography. I also list items on my phone and then cross list them across all marketplaces on my laptop at a later stage. This process is quick and easy.

- Label gun

- Business Cards to include with orders

- Thank you leaflets to include with orders

- Branded hangers

- Clothes rail

- Clothes steamer

- 50 Tupperware boxes(each box is 110 Litres). These are used to store the clothes and they are all numbered. This makes everything easy to find. I work out of a large insulated shipping container so a big room will be enough for storage.

Why are you selling this business?

I am very experienced in e-commerce but I have started working in a different industry and I have not been able to invest any time to add products and grow the business over the last few months.

Who would this business be perfect for?

For this business, the more products you add the more you sell. Technically, there are only two steps to run this business successfully, these are 1) List products, and 2) Pack and send orders. Therefore, this business would be perfect for someone who is willing to invest the time adding new inventory. On good days I can add up to 50 listings. However, due to other commitments, I usually only add 50-100 listings per month. This process requires steaming the clothing(items are already washed), photo and take notes of the item, quickly bulk edit all photos on the app and then list the item. I do all these in bulk. At the moment, I am listing all the products for the month in 1-2 days so there is huge potential to grow this. I was hoping to hire someone for this process but haven't gotten around to it yet.

This business investment is guaranteed to pay for itself over time even if you just continue to maintain the business and don't actually grow the business. The sales are proven, there's endless opportunities for growth. The valuation on any business should be between 2-3 years profit so this is an extremely good price for this business. The Depop shop, website, Etsy page, Instagram are all worth thousands on their own. The highest bidder will receive as much after sale support as needed within reason. As this is a very well organised business, the swap over should be relatively quick after payment is in escrow, the only slow part may be shipping the inventory(if you want the inventory) but this should still only take a week or two depending on where you are located.
